Hi Veg Smash Burger Review

Updated: Jun 2, 2021

Hi Veg is relatively new to the the vegan food market, however it is not technically a new company.

It is owned by ABP (Anglo Beef Processers), which is a large abattoir firm. This raises the debate, for should vegans and vegetarians eat food from, and therefore provide revenue for, companies in the meat trade. The answer in my view is yes.

The more people buying vegan and veggie food, the increased demand. This will happen for the meat companies too, so hopefully they will increase their veggie offerings. Further, most people buy from supermarkets, which also sell animal products, so it is very difficult to not purchase from any connected industry. Hence, it makes sense to buy the vegan and vegetarian offerings available, and drive up the demand to as many companies as possible.

Back to the burger, this one is different to others. It does not mimic meat, and is 80% vegetables, it actually counts as one of your five a day. Its also an ingredients list you will recognise, with no nasties.

It tastes different as I say. Its not horrible, and has a texture familiar to anyone who has eaten a veggie burger before. It is big too. If you are after something different but is not actually too bad for you, this is a good choice.
