Linda McCartney Vegetarian Chicken Roast Review

Despite the title of this roast, it is also vegan, unlike the Quorn alternative. This tester thinks favourably of Linda McCartney's other, 'Beef' roast, so had high hopes for this product.

It cooks easily enough, just put in the oven while you prepare the veg, but does look similar to their other roast, which arouses suspicions.

It not only looks similar, it has the same texture to their other roast. This gives it a texture completely different to any other vegetarian chicken product I have tried. As it is so similar, it almost seems like they have taken the 'beef' one and just taken the flavour out of it.

Of course, they have not, and after a second bite one can tell it has been given a chicken flavour, which is actually quite pleasant. Ignoring its similarities, it isn't actually a bad product.

Like Quorn's roast, this is well suited to leftovers being eaten cold the following day as part of a salad or in a sandwich, perhaps with pickle. As a vegan roast alternative to a nut roast, it could be worse, though I'd probably go for the nut roast, in particular this one.
