Richmond Vegan Sausages Review

Updated: Jun 2, 2021

Source: Morrisons

Seeing these sausages in the aisle, it is easy at a quick glance to consider them the standard Richmond meat product. The packaging can be considered similar, but this is not a criticism, especially of it encourages more meat eaters to consider vegan.

For those wanted to avoid plastic altogether, buy the frozen ones opposed to the fresh ones, as when frozen they just come in a box, with no clear film.

The appearance of the actual sausage also has similarities with meat sausages. Its worth noting here an interesting debate. There are some who believe that a sausage is not a sausage unless it is made of meat. Of course this is nonsense.

Not only are cylinder shaped items often referred to as sausages (sausage dogs anyone), but vegetarian sausages have existed for centuries. A famous example is the delicious Glamorgan Sausage. With that out of the way, back to the review.

They are easy to cook, and available fresh or frozen. I tried them in a roll with onion, and enjoyed every mouthful.

They are flavoursome, and have a really nice texture. They are not a fancy food, they are simply a sausage, so fulfill.the brief of being a comfort food.

They are not over seasoned or bland. For Richmond to foray into vegan food maybe a surprise, but they have done well. Hopefully these sausages will out sell their meat counterparts one day.
