Best Vegan Picnic Ideas

Picnics are always a popular idea, especially in the better weather of summer. So, for ideas to make it a great vegan picnic, read on.

Savouries:

A picnic is likely to have crisps, so instead of going for plain salted, why not try these popular Kettle Scheese and Onion Flavour crisps. They do taste great, and have proven popular. They come in a big share bag too, thus reducing waste from little packets, ideal for a picnic.

Sausage rolls are often seen as a picnic staple too, so I recommend these Naughty Vegan Sausage Rolls. Just cook them up the night before and take with you wrapped up, they are some of the best you can get.

If time is tight however, or you have forgotten to cook them the night before, try these ready to eat mini ones from established brand Fry's. They are excellent, and will be popular even with the meat eaters in your group.

To add something a little more exotic to your picnic take falafel. These falafel balls from Cauldron have been on the market for years, so have stood the test of time in terms of popularity. You could even use them as sandwich or wrap fillers too.

Another option are vegan cocktail sausages. The best of the bunch in this writer's view are the ones made by Gosh! Their sage and black pepper sausages are moreish, lovely dipped in vegan mayo too.

Sweet:

A picnic needs to sweet to balance out the savoury no? I always take a punnet of grapes and in-season British fruit, and here are some other recommendations:

Mr Kipling Apple and Blackcurrant Pies. Yup, they are happily coincidently vegan, though due to the manufacturing environment there is the risk of milk and other allergies, so check the box first.

Oggs Brownie Bites are a good choice. If you want a pre-made cake item, these are good, and completely vegan too. They keep gathering good reviews too.
